Anthony A. Patel

Tony Patel is a corporate attorney with a strong background in business, finance and technology.  His past experience includes work in securities transactions (including public and private offerings), complex mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, broker-dealers, investment funds, corporate governance, workouts, restructuring, and general commercial transactions.  Mr. Patel also has substantial experience working with technology companies across a variety of sectors, including Internet, digital media, software, services, semiconductors, life sciences and biotechnology.

A native of Los Angeles, Mr. Patel won a Regents Scholarship to attend the University of California, Los Angeles, from where he graduated in two years with a Bachelor of Arts degree summa cum laude in Political Science in 1996.  He then attended the Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley and Harvard Law School, graduating from the former with his law degree in 1999. 

Mr. Patel was a summer associate at Arnold & Porter, where his experience included corporate securities, real estate and commercial litigation.  Mr. Patel also served as an extern for Judge Lisa Hill Fenning of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Central District of California, and as a law clerk for the Los Angeles District Attorney and San Francisco City Attorney.

Mr. Patel began practicing as a corporate attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Los Angeles and Palo Alto.  His experience included technology mergers and acquisitions, real estate investment trusts, public and private offerings and general securities and corporate representation.  Subsequently, Mr. Patel was an investment banker at Hambrecht & Quist and JPMorgan in San Francisco and Montgomery & Co. in Santa Monica, during which time he worked on dozens of public and private offerings, mergers and acquisitions and other complex corporate and financial transactions.  Following that, Mr. Patel was the head of corporate development and strategic planning for PriceGrabber.com, an Internet company based in Los Angeles, where Mr. Patel helped spearhead and manage the sale of the company to Experian for approximately $500 million.  Recently, he has focused his efforts in assisting several entrepreneurs and investors in southern California in executing private financings, mergers and acquisitions and debt workouts.

Mr. Patel was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1999.  He has also been admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court, Central District of California.

Mr. Patel has an active interest in community and public service.  During college, he was awarded a Chancellor's Service Award for his volunteer contributions and service.  During 2003, Mr. Patel served as a volunteer Military Caseworker for the American Red Cross in New York City, where he assisted members and families of the U.S. armed forces.

Mr. Patel lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Sonya, and son, Rylan.
