Christina L. Geraci, Principal
Christina is the Chair of the Litigation department and is an established banking and finance litigation, real estate and bankruptcy attorney. She has handled over two hundred litigation cases to conclusion and taken well over 100 depositions in her litigation career. Her trial work has been cited and recognized by her peers, including publications in the Daily Journal and on Verdict Search. She is a very assertive and aggressive litigator that takes great pride in her work; she has genuine compassion for her clients and defends them fiercely.
Christina has been working in the legal profession for over 24 years. She started her legal career at a very young age where she worked as a legal file clerk for Katnick and Katnick in Santa Ana, California. She then worked at a bankruptcy firm in Los Angeles where she learned Chapter 7 and 13 Bankruptcy Law. She became in-house counsel for a Fortune 100 insurance company where she defended them in litigation. Christina thereafter accepted an attractive offer from a large law firm in Orange County where she continued to effectively and aggressively represent her clients from lawsuits.
Christina has a very strong work ethic and worked full time all through college, and part-time in law school. During her undergraduate years, she attended Thames Valley University in London England, were she studied International Business Law. With a strong thirst for travel and exploration, she visited several countries during her tenure at Thames Valley where she gained in-depth insight into the cultural and legal systems of several Countries, including Britain, Greece, Italy, and France.
After graduating from California Polytechnic University, Christina taught high school for one year before attending Chapman University School of Law. While at Cal Poly and Chapman she was very involved in extracurricular activities, and was President, Officer and Counsel Member of several student run organizations.
Christina is also a mezzo soprano who enjoys singing opera, jazz and punk rock music. She loves to oil paint and sculpt. She is in love with her family that includes a husband and two children, Anthony Christopher and Arabella Lenore, who are her pride and joy.
Representative Work:
Successfully obtained a Jury Verdict for Fraud and Breach of Fiduciary Duty after a three week trial in favor of plaintiff for $235,000 in actual/punitive damages and $117,000 in attorney's fees; plaintiff was an 88 year old lady defrauded by her fiduciary.
Successfully defended a mortgage lender against several investors who were seeking over 2 million dollars in damages based upon fraud, securities fraud and breach of fiduciary duty; settled suit for de minimus amount.
Successfully defended mortgage lenders in over 20 cases against borrower suits based upon violations of TILA, RESPA, and FCRA; judgment for lender in early stages of litigation and with little cost to lender.
Successfully defeated a preliminary injunction of an owner occupied residence at no cost to the lender.
Successfully defended employer against employee, who was in-house counsel for employer, where employee claimed right to indemnification for legal malpractice and breach of contract damages; case settled for a small fraction of requested damages.
Successfully defended mortgage lenders in bankruptcy court against borrowers who attempt to strip junior liens and cram down liens on real property.
