THE FIRM

William B. Welden
Of Counsel

William B. Welden is a partner at the Geraci Law Firm, APC and he oversees the construction defect litigation section of the firm.  In addition, he is an expert in general and business litigation matters.

Mr. Welden graduated from Drake University Law School in 1976.  He then earned an advanced law degree from the University of Nottingham Faculty of Laws in England in 1978.

Mr. Welden began practicing law in 1977 and joined the California bar in 1985.  When Mr. Welden first came to California, he joined the firm of Parker, Stanbery, Babcock & Combs and specialized extensively in insurance defense litigation.  After three years, he started his own business and insurance litigation practice which he actively ran for 16 years.  In 2006, Mr. Welden joined Brady, Vorwerk, Ryder & Caspino, where he successfully defended hundreds of construction defect claims against developers and subcontractors.  Mr. Welden prides himself on his remarkable ability to negotiate a resolution early in the litigation process of construction defect cases—a rare achievement in that area of the law.

For more than 10 years, Mr. Welden served as an Orange County mediator and arbitrator and handled more than 900 cases.  He is also an experienced law professor and has taught at the University of Puget Sound School of Law, University of San Diego School of Law, California Western Law School, and Western State University School of Law.

More recently, Mr. Welden spent five years as a member of the Education Appeals Board of the U.S. Department of Education, where he ruled on appeals involving misuse of federal education funds.

Mr. Welden is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Southern and Central Districts of California.  He has also been a member of the American Inns of Court chapters in San Diego, Santa Ana, and Long Beach.

Mr. Welden lives in Long Beach with his daughter, Shannon, where he is President of the Palo Verde Avenue Christian Church.
